Wyatt’s Take

  • The Washington Post tried to bury President Trump’s Independence Arch project under fake shadow claims right before Election Day.
  • Their own investigation admits the shadows are barely visible and mostly gone before visitors arrive.
  • This desperate hit piece shows how far the media will go to attack anything tied to President Trump.

The Washington Post launched their final pre-election attack on President Donald Trump by claiming his planned Independence Arch would somehow disrespect Arlington National Cemetery.

Their investigation used digital models to show shadows the monument would cast over the course of a year.

After publishing their findings one week before Election Day, the Post quietly admitted most of those shadows would disappear before the public even arrives at the cemetery.

The U.S. Department of the Interior pushed back on the shadow claims with a clear statement about timing and visibility.

“That period is less than an hour after sunrise, at which point shadows are very lengthened and distorted, and are mingled with the long shadows of trees.”

The Post tried to make the story bigger by combining morning and evening shadows, claiming the arch would briefly touch memorials on certain days.

Retired Army Major General Paul Eaton called the project a “sacrilege” and claimed families would be “overwhelmed by the shadow of this vanity project to Trump.”

The Trump administration responded by highlighting the true purpose and importance of the monument for all Americans.

“The Triumphal Arch in Memorial Circle is going to be one of the most iconic landmarks not only in Washington, D.C., but throughout the world.”

President Trump announced the project in April as a celebration of 250 years of American independence, calling it the greatest triumphal arch in the world.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum praised the design as a fitting tribute to Arlington Cemetery and American history.

“This will be one of the Great Pieces of American Architecture, honoring the history and significance of Arlington Cemetery and befitting the most powerful Capital in the World.”

The arch will also serve a practical purpose by storing military equipment for rapid deployment when needed.

National Capital Planning Commission Chairman Mark Paoletta explained that the project completes a vision Congress approved back in 1925 for a proper entrance to the national cemetery.

The Washington Post’s timing and focus on shadows that barely exist reveals more about their political agenda than any real concern for veterans or their families.

Wyatt Matters

President Trump’s plan honors the American spirit and our fallen heroes with dignity and strength. Working families across the heartland understand that real patriotism means celebrating our nation’s achievements, not nitpicking shadows to score political points before an election.
