January 1, Radical Activists Risk Surrendering AI Lead to China
Wyatt’s Take
American workers and families are winning the artificial intelligence race, but only by the skin of our teeth. A fringe movement called “Effective Altruism” is threatening to undermine our lead and give China the upper hand.
- Effective Altruists push policies that weaken U.S. tech strength.
- Their fear-driven agenda could tie up American businesses in more red tape.
- President Trump’s plan focuses on jobs, energy, and American leadership.
While President Trump is fighting for American jobs and technology, the so-called Effective Altruists seem more interested in appeasing China and putting blue-collar Americans out of work. Their leaders, backed by big donors close to Joe Biden, want regulations that hand over our edge in AI to Communist China. Instead of building strong supply chains and powering up new data centers, these activists fear imaginary doomsday scenarios and want Washington to slow things down for law-abiding businesses at home.
One of their favorite tools is constant talk about the so-called risks of future AI, ignoring the fact that every new technology has required us to balance growth and safety. Their influence is already showing up in Congress, where lawmakers floated rules and licenses that play right into China’s hands while hurting American small businesses and consumers.
If these policies pass, it will only mean higher costs and job losses here at home while Chinese tech giants break ahead. Weak rules kill our advantage without addressing real problems. In trying to “do good,” these activists are making it easier for rivals like Huawei to outmuscle American companies on the world stage.
The truth is, America got where it is by building, by taking smart risks, and by focusing on helping neighbors and communities—not distant promises to “save the world.” Allowing outside ideologies to dictate our AI future is a losing bet for working people and for our economy.
President Trump’s approach is about practical action—more jobs, better infrastructure, new energy projects, and a stronger America. Now is not the time to let fear-mongers or distant utopians set the agenda. Americans should stand together and demand common-sense policies that put the heartland first.
Our nation can’t afford to risk our future or our kids’ jobs chasing science fiction fears. Time to double down, keep leading, and keep America first in the world of technology.
Wyatt Matters
This debate is about more than high-tech gadgets—it’s about jobs on Main Street and our kids’ futures. Middle America knows that progress should never come at the expense of common sense or American pride. Letting radical outsiders steer our future only risks what makes our communities strong.
