This technology shift also streamlines membership verification, moving it from the checkout lanes to the front door, resulting in a quicker, more efficient shopping experience.
In addition, these scanners notify customers about upcoming membership renewals before they even start shopping, which speeds up the overall checkout process—a change that has been warmly welcomed by Costco members.
On top of that, members are thrilled with the new “search warehouse inventory” tool available on Costco’s mobile app, finally granting them the ability to check product availability from the convenience of their smartphones.

Sounds to me like a fluff piece that was written by Costco and is not the experience that I am hearing from people with respect to Costco’s latest and greatest idea. Many of their members hate it and many of their employees also hate it since it results in a lot of passive aggressive treatment of them. Smacks of corporatism’s justification of an idea that is an attempt to justify a bad idea.
