January 1, Main Street Thrives as Trump’s Policies Pay Off
Wyatt’s Take
- Small business optimism remains strong heading into the year’s end.
- Trump’s policies make it easier and cheaper to run a business in America.
- Main Street is hiring and expanding in ways not seen in decades.
Despite a small dip last month, small businesses are finishing the year feeling positive and looking forward to growth. Trump’s second term has brought relief and hope to Main Street, even as colder months approach.
There are now more than 36 million small businesses in America, responsible for nearly half the private workforce. Early 2025 data shows owners are betting on higher profits, better sales, and stronger communities thanks to easing inflation and stable leadership.
“A staggering 67% of small business owners anticipate higher profits to close out 2025, while 66% forecast increases in sales due to inflation cooling and the growing optimism and anticipation of further interest rate cuts.”
Most Main Street companies say they’re confident for the future, and the National Federation of Independent Business Index remains well above its long-term average—even after a slight slide in October. These businesses generated the bulk of new jobs the country needed this past year.
Trump’s Made in America programs are cutting red tape, offering new tax breaks, and using tariffs to support American workers. The permanent 20% tax deduction and raised reporting limits mean more money can be put toward hiring and expansion.
“Through the sweeping One Big Beautiful Bill signed in the summer of 2025, Trump made the 20% pass-through deduction permanent for more than 26 million small businesses while raising the 1099 reporting threshold to $2,000 and extending Opportunity Zones to channel billions into rural and underserved communities.”
The Small Business Administration set new records in lending and support. Small companies can now invest in equipment, take advantage of tax credits, and bring on more workers. Job creation has surged since the start of Trump’s second term, and small businesses lead the way.
With Main Street’s foundation stronger than ever, working families and entrepreneurs are set up for better days.
Wyatt Matters
When small businesses do well, it means local jobs, steady paychecks, and stronger hometowns. Main Street’s success matters for families across the heartland who count on fair policies and a level playing field.
