January 1, Louisiana Fights Biden’s Abortion Pill Push
Wyatt’s Take
- Louisiana sues to stop mail-order abortion pills.
- Women hurt by forced chemical abortions tell their stories.
- State says Biden’s FDA rules put lives and values at risk.
Louisiana’s top law officer and a local woman are taking the FDA to court. They want to block Washington’s rule allowing abortion pills to come through the mail.
The lawsuit claims federal mail-order permissions leave women open to abuse and harm. Many in Louisiana say they’ve suffered injury after forced or unwanted abortion pill use.
One mom nearly died when her ex slipped her an abortion drug from Mexico. She and her baby survived thanks to quick action. The state now punishes anyone who tries to force these pills on women without their consent.
Another woman, Rosalie Markezich, says her boyfriend made her take abortion pills ordered from another state. She did not want the abortion, tried to refuse the drugs, but was pressured and scared for her safety.
“Although she intended to throw them up as soon as she could get away from him, she was unsuccessful, and she lost her baby.”
The lawsuit says Markezich suffers both physical pain and lasting deep hurt from this trauma and is seeking mental health care.
Louisiana reports doctors and hospitals keep seeing women with dangerous side effects from abortion drugs, which state leaders claim cause thousands of abortions each year.
It’s not just forced abortions that worry them. Studies show that even women who take the pills willingly can face health risks ranging from heavy bleeding to hospital visits.
One analysis says the true rate of serious problems after using mifepristone is much higher than the FDA reports. Despite what activists claim, abortion pills aren’t less risky than everyday painkillers.
The doctor from California who prescribed pills to Markezich now faces an arrest warrant in Louisiana.
“That conduct directly violates Louisiana’s abortion laws and prevents Louisiana from protecting the lives of unborn babies despite the promise of Dobbs. That conduct also has directly generated medical emergencies that harm Louisiana women and emergency room visits that harm the State,” the lawsuit declares.
According to the suit, activists and doctors from other states keep sending abortion pills into Louisiana, skirting local law. They say the FDA under Biden allowed this by making mail-order pills easier to get.
“Every year, doctors and activists in states like California and New York mail a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved abortion drug called mifepristone to thousands of Louisiana residents for the express purpose of causing abortions in Louisiana that are blatantly unlawful,” the lawsuit claims.
After the Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling, the push for abortion by mail grew. The current lawsuit calls on courts to hold the federal government responsible for these harms.
The Supreme Court refused a chance to rule on the new mail-order rules before, but left the door open for a future challenge.
“This is an extraordinarily serious case, but it is also an extraordinarily easy case,” the lawsuit states, noting courts have already slammed Biden’s rule changes as likely illegal.
Pro-life leaders say the FDA must move fast to protect American families. “Ultimately, life-ending drugs do not make America healthy or great and there should be none on the market. At a minimum, we urge the FDA to act now to stop the flood of mail-order drugs and not delay another day,” they state.
Just days ago, the FDA approved a generic version of mifepristone, stirring fresh outrage in pro-life circles. That’s why 51 U.S. Senators are now pressing federal health agencies to tighten abortion drug regulations.

Heartland folks know the value of life and the need to protect women from harm. Families shouldn’t worry about dangerous pills showing up in their mailbox or loved ones being pressured into choices they don’t want.

The Biden admin did not make mifepristone legal. It was already legal in all 50 states. The drug isn’t the problem in Louisiana. It’s the backward state government that made medical care illegal. No one should be able to force you to have an abortion.
