Wyatt’s Take

  • Prominent liberals blame Charlie Kirk and Trump for tragedy
  • Victim-blaming spreads on left after assassination
  • Polls reveal acceptance of political violence among some Democrats

Liberal commentators and figures are blaming Charlie Kirk and former President Trump after Kirk was killed in Utah. Some on the left argue their own words made them victims, stirring anger among working-class Americans sick of double standards.

Even after the murder of Charlie Kirk, top Democrats offered little real sympathy. Instead, their base loudly blamed Kirk and Trump for the attack, claiming their words created the danger. Kirk’s assassination happened during a speech at Utah Valley University, with critics focusing on his debates over immigration and DEI programs.

“You need conservatives to be afraid of getting killed when they go to events so that they look at their leadership to turn down the temperature. The issue is, right now they don’t feel like there’s any fear.”

Elon Musk replied, “Incitement to murder and domestic terrorism is a felony crime. For that, he should go to prison.”

Left-wing voices claim Trump’s tough talk encouraged the violence. Some, like columnist Brian Klaas, say the country is “lurching toward authoritarianism and his repeated incitements to violence have dangerously normalized the use of deadly force against politicians.” A staffer to Rep. Andre Carson posted online that Kirk was “a casualty of the violence he incited,” with several government workers fired over similar statements.

At a recent TPUSA event, a student blamed Trump for Kirk’s murder. Megyn Kelly called it “a blatant lie and defamatory.” The student changed his words but still suggested the President fuels violence.

On “The View,” Ana Navarro said, “A lot of people, to use the word of Governor Cox, found what he said inflammatory or worse.”

Mother Jones called Kirk’s murder “awful” but immediately criticized his advocacy as “laced with racist and bigoted statements,” suggesting he somehow deserved it. Some on the left act as if it’s bad Kirk was killed, but act like he had it coming.

Sen. Cruz hit the nail on the head: “They don’t kill you because you’re a Nazi, they call you a Nazi so they can kill you.” Far-left media focused on painting Kirk as a bigot rather than respecting his willingness to debate.

Even professors joined in. One from the University of Florida lost his job after saying online, “I did not want [Kirk] to die. I reserve that wish for Trump.”

Polling afterwards showed a disturbing trend. Many on the left justify and even celebrate political violence, revealing a problem that threatens the safety and voice of everyday Americans.
