January 1, Lawmakers Push for Add-On to Massive Pentagon Funding Request

Wyatt’s Take
- Fitzpatrick wants more money for Ukraine added to the request for Operation Epic Fury.
- Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says the $200 billion is needed to restock munitions depleted under Joe Biden.
- Congress has already sent $188 billion toward the conflict in Ukraine since 2022.
Wyatt Matters
Working-class families are struggling with inflation while D.C. politicians treat billions of taxpayer dollars like play money for foreign wars.
We need to focus on rebuilding our own military strength and protecting the American heartland before sending another dime overseas.
Representative Brian Fitzpatrick is looking to tack Ukraine funding onto a massive $200 billion request for the war in Iran.
The Pennsylvania Republican is reportedly talking to colleagues about more foreign aid even as our own military stocks are low.
Hegseth noted that the previous administration left our stockpiles empty by prioritizing foreign borders over our own defense.
“I think, you know, we’re also still dealing with the environment that Joe Biden created, which was, which was depleting those stock holes and not sending them to our own military, but to Ukraine,” Hegseth said.
The Pentagon needs these funds to ensure our troops have what they need to finish the job against bad guys in the Middle East.
While President Trump has worked to find peace in Eastern Europe, some in Congress seem determined to keep the checkbook open for overseas conflicts.

So, Hegseth noted that the previous administration left our stockpiles empty by prioritizing foreign borders over our own defense.
As usual, the Secretary of Defense leaves out the truth. All the stockpiles sent to Ukraine were those rendered surplus by their replacement with fresh supplies. It was akin to donating old clothes to the hrift store rather than toss them in the garbage. A win-win, something Hegseth has never experienced and will never accomplish.
