Wyatt’s Take

  • A man plotting to assassinate a Supreme Court justice got eight years from a left-leaning judge.
  • Prosecutors wanted at least 30 years, but the judge sided with the defense’s lighter sentence.
  • This case highlights growing concern over left-wing violence and soft-on-crime judges.

Prosecutors pushed for a harsh sentence for Nicholas Roske, who attempted to target Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. But a federal judge, nominated by President Biden, gave Roske only eight years in prison, siding with the defense’s argument for leniency.

Roske, who claims a new identity as “Sophie,” traveled across the country with a gun and tools, hoping to kill conservative justices. He turned himself in after seeing police outside Kavanaugh’s home, later admitting his motive was outrage over a leaked Supreme Court draft to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The judge used the left’s language guidelines and considered Roske’s cooperation, his family’s appeals, and his apology to Kavanaugh’s family. Despite prosecutors insisting on a much stricter punishment, the judge chose a lighter path, stating Roske abandoned his plan before anyone was harmed.

Boardman has repeatedly ruled in ways favored by the left, including blocking Trump policies and following Biden’s moves to diversify the federal bench. She has the approval of the American Bar Association and was supported by Democrats in her nomination.

This sentencing adds to a recent pattern of political violence from the far left, including attacks on conservatives and incidents tied to individuals with mental health or gender issues.

Roske’s defense team argued for understanding based on harsh prison conditions for transgender inmates and mental illness history.

America deserves better protection for its leaders and tougher action against anyone threatening the law. Don’t let media or officials downplay the danger when justice is this close to losing its teeth.
