Jordan set a December 17 date for Smith’s deposition, seeking more information on how these cases were handled by the Department of Justice.

Many Republicans accuse Smith of overreaching, pointing out that his investigations swept up lawmakers, Trump supporters, and conservative media. Smith has said his actions were lawful and necessary, and that he has nothing to hide.
