Wyatt’s Take

  • Arctic front brings snow from D.C. to Boston this weekend
  • Poconos, Upstate New York, and New England see heaviest snow
  • Travel may get tricky along I-95 corridor

Colder air is moving into the Northeast starting Saturday, meaning some big cities along Interstate 95 could see the season’s first real shot at snow.

Most places near the busy highway have had a dry winter so far.

This weekend changes that, as a couple of weather systems line up to deliver light snow from Washington, D.C. to Boston.

The Poconos in Pennsylvania, Upstate New York, and New England are expected to be hit hardest with snow.

Major areas like Philadelphia could see enough accumulation to make travel slow along the highway.

“Some spots may pick up a fast 1-2 inches,” weather experts say.

The heavier stuff stays west of I-95 where it stays colder, but places like Syracuse, New York could see the most noticeable snow cover.

Even New York City and Boston might catch a few flakes before things wind down Saturday.

Another shot of light snow is possible late Sunday into Monday as a storm races up the coast.

Keep an eye out if you’re traveling; roads may get slick.
