A 39-year-old Florida woman pleaded guilty to threatening to kill Vice President Kamala Harris. Prosecutors said Niviane Petit Phelps pleaded guilty to six counts and faces up to five years in prison.

Phelps sent her incarcerated husband multiple videos in which she threatened to kill Harris and claimed she received $53,000 as “the hit man,” officials said.

Phelps sent the videos through JPay, which is an app used to send media to prisoners. An inspector forwarded them to the Secret Service.

According to an affidavit, Phelps, who is black, told the Secret Service that she was upset that Harris was not really black and hadn’t placed her hand on a bible during the inauguration.

The Miami-area nurse’s attorney, Scott Saul, said she was going through a tumultuous time in her life and didn’t have any intention to act on the threats.

“Ms. Phelps has led an honorable life until this incident,” Saul said. “Ms. Phelps has pled guilty, but she plans on demonstrating significant mitigating circumstances.”

Sentencing is set for Nov. 19.
