  • Don Lemon arrested in Los Angeles by federal agents
  • Charges linked to January riot at a Minnesota church
  • Allegations include interfering with civil rights, federal investigation ongoing

Don Lemon, a former CNN anchor, was taken into custody Thursday night in Los Angeles. Reports say the arrest is tied to his presence at a church riot in Minnesota earlier this month.

His lawyer put out a statement defending Lemon’s actions, saying:

“Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done. The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable.”

Federal officials have not released details of the charges yet, but it is believed Lemon may face charges under the Enforcement Act of 1871, which bans blocking civil rights. Lemon spent the night in police custody and was scheduled for a court appearance Friday.

Officials say Lemon was part of a group that took part in a chaotic scene at St. Paul’s Cities Church in January. The Trump administration called it a violation of the FACE Act, but Lemon claims he was there only to report, not participate.

The Department of Justice had previously tried to arrest Lemon, but a Minnesota appellate court blocked their first attempt. Authorities pressed forward after a grand jury issued an indictment against him.

Concerns are rising about the motivations of these protests, especially with church leaders linked to ICE and enforcement against violent criminals. Many in Middle America are watching closely as this story develops.

For folks who care about free speech and law and order, this case puts a spotlight on the clash between federal power, the media, and citizen rights. Watchers are waiting to see how the legal battle plays out in the coming weeks.

When you can’t worship freely in this country it doesn’t leave much hope for the world. Many people have no morals any more what would our founders think?

If Don Lemon was “covering” thieves burglarsby following them into the house, would he be constitutionally protected? If not, then he should also be found guilty for following these people into the church to do what they did. He was part of them. He disrupted service just as much as them.
