Wyatt’s Take

  • Colorado lawmakers want to restrict restaurants from including napkins, utensils, and condiments unless customers ask.
  • The bill could hit repeat offenders with civil penalties of up to $1,000.
  • Critics say the proposal adds more red tape for restaurants and delivery services.

Far-left lawmakers in Colorado are now coming after the napkins and ketchup packets in your takeout bag.

A new bill would ban restaurants from providing single-use items unless a customer specifically asks for them.

This overreach targets basic convenience under the guise of saving the planet.

It turns common dining habits into potential legal violations for small business owners.

The proposal expands on previous state laws that already banned plastic bags and foam containers across the state.

Critics argue the bill creates an absurd list of restricted items while exempting others without clear logic.

Former Colorado GOP Chair Kristi Burton Brown called the move a ridiculous napkin ban.

She noted that delivery services and restaurants could both face heavy fines for simply being helpful to their customers.

“If this passes, your local Taco Bell can be fined up to $1,000 for giving you a napkin with your order if you didn’t request it.”

The bill specifically names ketchup, mustard, creamer, and sugar as items that must be withheld.

Legislators claim these items are contaminants in recycling streams and that customers are frustrated by receiving them.

If the measure passes the Democrat-controlled legislature, it would likely go into effect at the start of 2027.

Hardworking restaurant owners would then be forced to police their condiment bins or face the state’s wrath.

Wyatt Matters

Middle Americans believe in common sense and staying out of people’s private business.

This is another example of out-of-touch politicians micro-managing everyday life instead of focusing on rising costs or public safety.

This is one of the dumbest bans I’ve ever heard of. Apparently, the Dems have run out incredibly stupid ideas, and someone came up with this one. Maybe they should try to come up with a constructive idea/law? I’m not sure they would be capable of doing so.
