January 1, Chilling Bronx Assault: Unusual Lead to Suspect Identification

Police have released a new image of a person of interest related to a rape in the Bronx. The NYPD identified 39-year-old Kashaan Parks in connection to a disturbing viral video that appears to document a sexual assault in the Melrose area.

The chilling incident occurred on May 1 around 3 a.m. near East 152nd Street and 3rd Avenue. A 45-year-old woman was followed by a man who lassoed a belt around her neck, causing her to lose consciousness.

The perpetrator proceeded to drag her behind a car and sexually assault her before fleeing on foot towards Melrose Avenue.

The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition. Authorities revealed that the victim and attacker were acquainted.

The woman was able to recognize her assailant due to his “unusual teeth,” specifically a space between them.

Melrose residents expressed shock and sadness over the incident, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures in the area.

“It’s sad for women, it’s sad for everybody, but women take the worst part,” said resident Justo Cordero.
