January 1, Blue State Leaders Shield Texas Democrats From Justice

Wyatt’s Take

  • Texas Democrats ran off to avoid voting on fair maps.
  • Blue state governors are openly helping them hide out.
  • This standoff could hurt Republican chances in Congress.

Texas Democrats skipped town to prevent a key vote, dodging their duties and ignoring the will of the people. Governors of deep-blue states like Illinois and New York rolled out the red carpet, offering safety and support instead of holding these lawmakers accountable.

Governor Pritzker of Illinois stood with the Texas Democrats and pledged, “we’re going to do everything we can to protect” them. He even admitted to helping them with “lodging and meeting spaces.” New York’s Governor Hochul showed similar support, blaming President Trump for the showdown.

Redistricting in Texas hangs in the balance—Republicans could gain five House seats if the vote happens. Meanwhile, Democrats cry foul despite their own gerrymandering in Illinois, where they’ve rigged maps to favor their party.

Governor Abbott made it clear: “Any Democrat who ‘solicits, accepts or agrees to accept’… funds to assist in the violation of legislative duties or for purposes of skipping a vote may have violated bribery laws.” Anyone caught helping them could face charges.

Even so, Democrats say they’re in it “for the long haul,” expecting blue states to bankroll their stay. The Texas House faced a quorum shortfall by 10 on Monday, putting state business on hold. Civil arrest warrants were issued, but with Democrats hiding out in states run by their party, Texas law can’t be enforced.

Speaker Burrows cut off pay for absentee lawmakers, forcing them to pick up checks in person. Some Republicans are calling for help from U.S. Marshals or even the FBI to bring these lawmakers back home, according to multiple reports.

Governor Abbott isn’t backing down—he can call special session after special session until something gives. The next attempt at a quorum happens Friday. If Democrats keep hiding, Texas might miss its chance to redraw the map before the early primary.

Wyatt Matters

These actions show how little respect some have for the rule of law and honest elections. Middle America knows that elected leaders shouldn’t run away from their jobs or ask outsiders to interfere with Texas business. Voters deserve accountability and a fair shake from those they put in office.

I’ve known that Democrats are wily people having grown up with a Democrat for my maternal parent. She beat me so bad one evening that I ran away and it wasn’t until the following week she knew for sure where i was and then a Judge had to tell tha woman she would go to prison if ever she beat me again.

They are just not in their correct minds. Too much socialism has crept into their brains.
