January 1, Anti-vaxxers attempt to storm London offices of medical regulator
Anti-vaccine protestors attempted to storm the headquarters of Britain’s medical regulator, but a violent clash with police thwarted their attempts.
No less than four officers sustained injuries during a confrontation outside the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) offices. The crowd of hundreds attempted to breach the doors to the offices but were ultimately unsuccessful.
“A number of protesters have become violent towards police,” the Metropolitan Police tweeted. “Four of our officers have been injured during clashes. This is unacceptable. We remain on scene.”
Officials say the protest was organized by activists angered by reports that children could soon be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Ten arrests were made, according to police.
