Adam Sandler admits he never dreamed his career would last so long. He shared that being recognized for awards catches him off guard.

“I never thought of this in my life. I was always trying to just continue marching forward, but it’s random moments like this that are interesting,” Sandler said.

He finds all the attention from Hollywood tough to handle.

“I can’t tell you how bananas I go talking about myself too much. I just run to the hills, man,” he said.

Sandler has worked with the same crew since he was young. He believes everyone’s success and struggles are shared.

He became famous from “Saturday Night Live” in the 90s and built his name with movies like “Happy Gilmore” and “Billy Madison.” Sandler says he tries not to dwell on old work.

“I feel the same in the way that I was always pretty excited to be doing it. I don’t look back at any of my old stuff and go, ‘Wow, you nailed it there, man.’ I’m usually like, ‘Wow, you were just getting by, man,’” he said.

Sandler knows he’s changed over the years but still stands by his past choices, right or wrong. He believes working hard and always thinking about the folks watching at home are keys to a strong comedy career.

“We work hard with a bunch of people who like to create, write stuff down, try to make it fresh as much as we can and think about the audience,” Sandler explained.
