“For the last three weeks, Governor Kay Ivey has experienced some discomfort in her left side.”
Her office noted that while the situation was not an emergency, the governor felt it was time to address the shortness of breath. She is now recovering under the eye of medical experts.
“She has always been a fighter and we know she’ll fight through this too,”
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said in a statement of support.
Ivey previous beat lung cancer back in 2019 after undergoing radiation treatment. She is currently serving her final term as governor due to state term limits.
