George Washington University recently announced that heading to campus will now cost families nearly $100,000 per year.

For most working people, that is more than a house costs in much of Middle America.

While schools claim to value affordability, they keep hiking tuition while forcing students to live in expensive dorms.

It is time we stop subsidizing these bloated institutions that look more like country clubs than classrooms.

University officials claim they are committed to accessibility, but the math just does not add up for the average family.

Even top-ranked schools like Princeton are currently cheaper than this D.C. institution.

“GW is committed to providing a world-class educational experience while maintaining accessibility and affordability,” a university spokesperson claimed in a statement.

However, many students are questioning if the quality of the education is actually keeping pace with the skyrocketing price tag.

One student noted that if the price goes up, the quality better follow.

“Why would you ever pay this,” one observer wrote on social media regarding the massive six-figure estimate.

Middle America knows the value of a dollar, and charging $100,000 for a single year of school is an insult to every hardworking parent and student.

We must demand accountability from higher education instead of letting them bury our children in a lifetime of debt.
