January 1, McCarthy Unleashes on House Republicans After Historic Ouster as Speaker
In the wake of his ouster as Speaker of the House, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave an unfiltered response during his press conference.
McCarthy asserted that even without the Speaker title, myriad avenues were available for him to serve Americans. He highlighted the futility in holding up the nation’s legislative process over personal grievances harbored by a handful of Republicans.
“I think you should put the country first. You know, this job was never about me,” he said.
McCarthy’s concerns about some Republicans’ intentions were evident when he remarked, “Why [would] I do something for myself that can hurt the country? I’m not quite sure those individuals are looking to be productive. It concerns me as a Republican based upon watching what they do.”
McCarthy took issue with the eight Republicans who voted against him, including notable names like Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL), Andy Biggs (AZ), and six others who voted for his ouster.
He openly criticized their contradictory behavior, pointing out their earlier complaints about incomplete spending bills and yet their role in halting appropriations.
“These are the same people that sat on the floor and criticized me that we didn’t get all 12 spending bills done,” McCarthy chided.
McCarthy stated that Gaetz had made promises in January about certain procedural rules. His reproach towards such Republicans was unambiguous as he called out their contradictory stances.
“They are not conservatives,” McCarthy said, citing their voting record against significant cuts, border security, and other key issues.
His criticism of them wasn’t just about policy but also their character: “They don’t get to say they’re conservative because they’re angry and they’re chaotic. That’s not the party I belong to.”
McCarthy’s disappointment with Gaetz was palpable as he took multiple jabs during the conference.
“You all know Matt Gaetz. You know it was personal,” he said, revealing that Gaetz’s antics were more about garnering attention rather than serving the country.
Making a biting comment about Gaetz’s behavior, McCarthy said, “It had nothing to do about spending. Everything he accused somebody of, he was doing. It all was about getting attention from you. I mean, we’re getting e-mail fundraisers from him as he’s doing it. ‘Join in quickly.’ That’s not governing. That’s not becoming of a member of Congress.”
In a striking comment about Gaetz’s ethics, McCarthy alluded to the ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation surrounding Gaetz.
Support for McCarthy’s leadership style came from an unexpected corner: Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), whom McCarthy described as the “hardest-line” person in the conference.
Massie defended McCarthy’s procedural adherence during a House floor speech. Referring to this, McCarthy asserted, “When Gaetz said I didn’t follow the rules, show me one place. You saw Thomas Massie…say we followed all the rules, all the time.”
As the press conference wound down, McCarthy hinted at his next steps, suggesting that he would play an active role in primary races.
He noted he was “pretty good at electing people.” McCarthy also emphasized the ongoing investigative efforts by Republicans, bringing to light alleged corruption within the Biden family.

McCarthy was ineffective and constantly waffled on issues. He was not the tough talking leader that was elected Speaker!

Mccarthy was told when he was made speaker if he went out of line once, he was gone. I guess he didn’t;t think the republicans would do it. He has no one but himself to blame

The red flags were there. He had “Rhino” tattooed on his forehead. We need to ouster the large gaggle of Rhinos who appointed him to make “our” party great again.

There might be more sympathy for McCarthys plight if he hadn’t spent so much time & energy trashing President Trump for Jan. 6 & snuggling up to Nasty
Legosi & the democRats because she said she’d back him. How can you spend that much time in DC & not know that democRATS are lying, traitorous scum. Like RINO’s, their word is no good & their handshakes no better. FJB ULTRA-MAGA MIKE

He was weak and was easily swayed by Demoncrats. He, along with other Republicans will not stand up to the Demoncrats and let them control policy. We want a fighter who will hold the feet of the Demoncrats to the fire and fight against them instead of constantly giving in to their horrible policies and demands. He would not do it.

Excuse me, but McCarthy is a whiny little prick! Of all the past budget details (prior to this last one) he buckled on them when he went to the WH!!! And this most recent one, he had to get the Dem-o-rats to join him, or was it, he joined the dem-o-rats to get it passed!!! Never trusted him when they put him into the speaker position! He’s your typical, go to DC and make my fortune and the hell with everyone else. I’ll go along if you pay me enough!!! This is the mindset of the majority of Congress!!! The elites/corporations/millionares pay to get them elected, they in turn sell us out to make their fortune!!!

Rep. McCarthy was a fantastic leader. He always supported conservative Republican principles, but was willing to compromise whenever necessary for the continuation of the U.S. Government.

McCarthy was far too willing to abide by the democommie party wishes and agenda; he did NOTHING to curb their spending spree, even after he “promised” he would. I’ll be surprised if he does not “defect” to the democommie party publicly, in the future. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t “smell” that way.

Gaetz was correct doing what he did. DEEP STATE swamp creatures need to be purged from government. I think Tulsi Gabbard would make a fine Speaker of the House. She knows how the House works. She is not enamored with big government. And I believe she can cross the aisles.

Did McCarthy forget that not one Dem voted for him as Speaker?
It disgusted me to see McCarthy hugging Schumer when McCarthy caved in to the far left spending agenda.
McCarthy put the Dems agenda ahead of the Republican agenda in this last go around. McCarthy showed no back bone.
Only to have the Dems stab him in the back.
If only 5 Dems voted to keep McCarthy as Speaker……….
I hope the next Speaker can change the liberal spending spree. Also, what are the US goals for Ukraine? Reasonable question before more and more and more Ukraine funding. How is the Ukraine money being spent? Is any of this money being used to lobby US reps? Fair questions that are being asked. The Dems ignore these question, as does the liberal media.
Bye Bye McCarthy, you are not a Ronald Reagan, though you come from the great state of California.
