January 1, WATCH: Professor Sparks Outrage in Controversial Speech
In Idaho, a university professor is under fire after controversial comments he made about women went viral on TikTok.
Scott Yenor, a political science professor at Boise State University, said “independent women” are “medicated, meddlesome, and quarrelsome” and should be kept out of professions like engineering.
Yenor said women should be encouraged to pursue “feminine goals” like “homemaking and having children” while speaking at the National Conservatism Conference in Orlando, Florida, on October 31.
“Every effort must be made not to recruit women into engineering, but rather to recruit and demand more of men who become engineers. Ditto for med school, and the law, and every trade,” he said.
The university released a statement on the matter, saying that it cannot infringe upon Yenor’s First Amendment rights.
“The university cannot infringe upon the First Amendment rights of any members of our community, regardless of whether we, as individual leaders, agree or disagree with the message,” a spokesperson for Boise State said in an email.
