  • Trump reversed Biden’s bans on Alaska oil and gas projects.
  • A major gas pipeline got a green light, helping jobs and families.
  • Some Native groups cheered, while environmentalists sued.

Trump signed three resolutions undoing Biden-era rules that stopped energy drilling across millions of acres in Alaska.

This signals a big win for Alaska workers and American energy independence, with swift approval for an 800-mile natural gas pipeline stretching from the North Slope to south-central Alaska.

“Under the Biden administration, Alaska had more sanctions issued against our state than there were against the country of Iran. And so here we have this opportunity, and now we’ve got the president ready to go,” said Bernadette Wilson, a Republican candidate for governor.

Sen. Dan Sullivan called the Biden policy “one of the most blatant examples of federal government overreach” and celebrated Trump’s rollback as a victory for local communities.

Rep. Michael Rulli from Ohio stressed how crucial natural gas is for national security, warning, “if the grid is not secure, national security isn’t secure. And not only that, the standard of living of every American is at jeopardy right now.” He said permitting reform could help similar projects nationwide.

Environmentalists and some activist groups are fighting these moves in court, saying new drilling could hurt Alaska’s caribou and the people who rely on them.

Meanwhile, many North Slope Alaska Natives applauded Trump’s actions, with the Voice of Arctic Iñupiat declaring, “Washington is finally listening to our voices when it comes to policies affecting our homelands.”

These rollbacks face more legal challenges, but for now, Alaska’s energy future looks brighter—and more in the hands of its own people.
