January 1, House Advances $900 Billion Defense Bill in Tight Vote
Wyatt’s Take
- The House backed a massive 2026 defense bill after a close vote.
- $900 billion is set aside for national security and military strength.
- The bill forces the Pentagon to release unedited strike footage in U.S. controlled regions.
The House of Representatives passed the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act with a final 312-112 vote. A total of 94 Democrats and 18 Republicans were against it.
Only one Republican, Thomas Massie from Kentucky, voted “no” to move the bill forward earlier in the day.
The bill stretches over 3,000 pages and is seen as a compromise bill. It includes a rule making the Pentagon share unedited video of military strikes against terrorist groups in areas where our military operates.
The $900 billion measure heads next to the Senate. If approved, it will be sent to President Trump for a signature.
