January 1, Bombshell Arrest Uncovers FBI Delays

Wyatt’s Take

  • Biden-era FBI had suspect information since 2021.
  • Arrest finally made after new leadership and pressure.
  • Republicans blasting delays, demanding accountability.

The FBI had all the facts needed to identify the pipe bomb suspect at the DNC and RNC headquarters in D.C. back in January 2021. Even with all that evidence, no arrest happened until Brian Cole from Virginia was finally picked up outside the capital after new folks took charge at the bureau.

This turn of events has folks saying the earlier investigators, under Biden, dragged their feet or let politics slow things down. A recent House GOP report shined a spotlight on the Department of Justice and the FBI’s slow response, criticizing the lack of action for years, even though piles of evidence had already been collected.

The FBI released new video of the suspect in January 2025, saying they believed the bomber was about 5’7” and wearing rare Nike shoes, hoping it would lead to tips from the public. The bombs never went off, but were found just before the Capitol events on January 6.

Critics point out that, although federal agents interviewed thousands and combed through mountains of evidence, the suspect could have been caught much sooner if investigators had connected their own dots. Some say it took the Trump administration’s push and new leadership, especially Deputy Director Dan Bongino, to prioritize the case and see it through.

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed, “There was no new tip; there was no new witness, just good diligent police work.” Brian Cole was arrested after authorities reviewed existing evidence and worked hard under new direction.

Folks across the heartland see this as another reason to question how politics sometimes shapes law enforcement priorities. Stay aware and keep asking for truth from those in charge.
