Wyatt’s Take

  • Speaker Johnson says Senator Schumer is misleading people on who’s to blame for shutting down Washington.
  • It takes both parties to end the gridlock, not just Republicans.
  • Schumer is getting heat from his own side and is dragging things out for cover.

Speaker Mike Johnson took aim at Senator Chuck Schumer for the ongoing shutdown standoff, claiming Schumer is spreading lies about who’s really behind the government closing its doors.

Johnson says Schumer’s using the shutdown for his own gain, not to help working folks across the country.

Johnson pointed to Schumer’s long time in Congress, saying any eighth grader would know both parties need to work together in the Senate to pass a deal and open things back up.

He said the spending bill on the table already passed the House and would give lawmakers extra time to hash things out while keeping the government moving.

“We just need seven more weeks to finish it, and right now they’re eating up the clock. They’re doing this for political cover.”

Johnson said.

If you’re tired of out-of-touch politicians turning regular folks into bargaining chips, speak up and make them feel the heat back home.
