January 1, NY Attorney General Sued Over Targeting Pro-Life Groups, Denying Women’s Freedom of Choice

New York Attorney General Letitia James faces a lawsuit this month for targeting pro-life organizations in the state. The National Institute of Family and Life Advocates, Gianna’s House, and Options Care Center are suing James. They claim she is violating the First Amendment through lawsuits against 11 crisis pregnancy centers and Heartbeat International for alleged false advertising. Alliance Defending Freedom represents these pro-life organizations.

“Many women regret their abortions, and some seek to stop the effects of chemical abortion drugs before taking the second drug in the abortion drug process. Taking supplemental progesterone at that time can often save their baby’s life,” said Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Gabriella McIntyre. “The New York attorney general, however, is doing everything she can to deny women the freedom to make that choice.”

James’ lawsuit targets a dozen pro-life ministries for supporting the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol. This method, endorsed by pro-life organizations, involves taking a prescribed dose of bioidentical progesterone to potentially reverse the effects of mifepristone. It can save an unborn child if a woman changes her mind about going through with an abortion.

The pro-life lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, begins by discussing a woman’s experience in saving her baby through the reversal protocol after initiating an abortion. The lawsuit argues, “Despite saying that she supports women’s choice, the Attorney General seeks to deprive women who change their mind and want to continue their pregnancies, or who are coerced or tricked into a chemical abortion, of truthful information about progesterone treatment, a safe option that has been used by obstetrician-gynecologists to help maintain pregnancies for decades.”

The suit seeks to bar James from using New York business law to target pro-life groups promoting the abortion pill reversal. “New York is intentionally denying women the freedom to continue their pregnancies by censoring those who promote it. They are forcing women to follow through with an abortion—even if they don’t want to,” said Thomas Glessner, president and founder of the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates. “How does it even remotely make sense to trust women with their medical decisions if you are actively trying to hide scientifically-based information from them? It makes no sense, nor is it legal.”

Pregnancy centers across the country have faced criticism from Democrat lawmakers and pro-abortion activists after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Seems to me, that the party seeking to empower women’s rights, are going out of their way to restrict which rights they will empower! Just as they are doing with our Constitutional rights, deciding which rights THEY will PERMIT us to exercise!

Letitia James SHOULD BE sued if she is preventing WOMEN FROM KNOWING ALL OPTIONS! Dem’s continue to show they want to kill people, whether it be through promoting abortion or not keeping murderers in jail.
