Betty White’s Cause of Death Confirmed

Actress Betty White passed away on New Year’s Eve, just three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. The Golden Girls star’s agent confirmed her cause of death after rumors made the rounds.

White’s agent and friend Jeff Witjas said the Mary Tyler Moore Show actress passed away “peacefully in her sleep” at her home in Brentwood, California.

Shortly after White’s death, social media users started spreading a post with a fake quote attributed to the actress, saying she’d received a COVID-19 booster on December 28.

“Eat healthy and get all your vaccines. I just got boosted today,” the bogus quote read, next to a link to an article from a Minnesota news outlet Crow River Media.

Witjas told The Associated Press that White didn’t receive a shot that day, though he didn’t elaborate on if she’d received a booster at all.

“People are saying her death was related to getting a booster shot three days earlier, but that is not true. She died of natural causes,” Witjas told People magazine. “Her death should not be politicized — that is not the life she lived.”

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” he added. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”
