Ben Savage, known for playing Cory Matthews on the hit 90s sitcom Boy Meets World, announced that he’s vying for a new role: a U.S. Congressman.

“Together, we can do better,” Savage wrote on Instagram. He cited his status as a longtime resident of California’s 30th Congressional District “who comes from a family of unwavering service to our country and community.”

“I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues.”

Savage running for Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff’s seat. Schiff is running to replace the retiring Sen. Dianne Feinstein in 2024, leaving his seat in the House of Representatives open.

This isn’t the first time Savage has thrown his hat in the political ring. In 2022, he unsuccessfully ran for West Hollywood City Council.

Savage starred in Boy Meets World from 1993-2000. He reprised his role as Cory Matthews in 2015 for the spinoff series Girl Meets World, which lasted three seasons. Recently, he starred in a Lifetime true crime movie, portraying kidnapper Nathaniel Kibby in 2022’s Girl in the Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez.

Schiff would have to run again in 2024. All Representatives have to run every two years. If Ben Savage wants to run for that seat, more power to him. Schiff (also known as “shifty Schiff”) has become known for lying on the floor of Congress (supposedly a crime) during attempts to impeach President Donald Trump. He failed twice, and continued to lie during the Jan 6 hearings. Although I am not in that district, I hope Mr. Savage turns out to be an honest politician. We could use a few of those.
