January 1, White House Writes Another Check for $500M
The Biden administration pledged an additional $500 million in direct aid to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
President Joe Biden informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the additional funding during a call.
According to a White House readout of the call, Biden and Zelensky also discussed “military, economic, and humanitarian assistance” efforts by the U.S. and other allies including imposing “severe costs on Russia for its brutal aggression against Ukraine.”
The two leaders also talked about ongoing efforts “to identify additional capabilities to help the Ukrainian military defend its country.”
