Wyatt’s Take

  • Media hosts treat Republicans and Democrats differently on live TV.
  • Kristen Welker presses GOP leaders hard but takes it easy on Democrats.
  • Welker’s Meet the Press questions show which side gets the heat.

The way TV anchors talk to politicians says a lot. Kristen Welker acts tough with Republicans but goes soft when Democrats are on her show.

When Vice President J.D. Vance joined, Welker hit him with rapid questions about the Israel peace deal and government layoffs. She blamed Trump for the government shutdown, pushing on whether he should get workers back on the job.

But when Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat, came on, Welker loosened up. She asked fewer tough questions about the same issues and wanted to know if Trump was better at international deals than Biden, instead of holding Kelly’s feet to the fire.

“Do you believe that this peace deal came together now because President Trump was more effective at pressuring Prime Minister Netanyahu than former President Biden was?”

Questions like that would have set up Vance for an easy answer, calling out Biden’s weaknesses. But Welker only asked Democrats, saving her sharp tongue for the GOP.

Later in a panel, Welker played down Trump’s peace victory while raising Democrat-made domestic crises.

“What about that split screen? Here you’ll have the president on the world stage touting this indisputable, huge victory. The government’s at a standstill back at home, and there are a lot of tensions over a lot of different issues here at home.”

This kind of double standard shows that some media figures find it hard to give Trump credit without a jab. It’s all there in the questions they ask—folks at home can judge for themselves.

Don’t let the elites shape the story for you—keep watching and keep asking your own questions.
