January 1, Voter Fraud Charges Rock Pennsylvania Election System
Wyatt’s Take
- Temp workers with shady pasts shouldn’t be handling private voter info.
- Seven people charged in a fake voter registration scheme in Pennsylvania for the 2024 election.
- Local officials warned of fraudulent forms flooding county offices.
Pennsylvania’s attorney general just charged seven people for a crooked voter registration drive in the 2024 election. This shows how easy it is for weak spots in our election process to get exploited.
Police say hired canvassers were pushed to hit quotas, or else they’d be fired, so they turned in fake registrations. That led to bogus paperwork piling up in places like Lancaster County, where election workers caught forms with matching names, dates, and even handwriting.
“The county investigated and found 60 percent were confirmed as ‘fraudulent,’ according to Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams.” That operation had kicked off in June 2024, and the trail of phony registrations stretched over Berks and York counties too.
The man in charge, Guillermo Sainz, ran the drive for a company called Field and Media Corps. He’s now facing three counts for setting quotas. Each charge brings up to a $500 fine or jail time. His company’s funding came from a big voter registration group known as Everybody Votes, but state officials say the charges aren’t about helping one party or candidate—just workers trying to keep their jobs by any means.
Six street canvassers also face charges like forgery, tampering with records, and falsification. Some of them had rap sheets before being hired—one was busted for theft, another for false ID, and others for public drunkenness and bad checks.
The big problem here is these temp workers got access to sensitive voter info, like Social Security numbers. That’s a risk for both election honesty and people’s private data. Limiting registration to in-person only, handled by trusted officials, would make the system safer for everyone.
Wyatt Matters
Election security is a kitchen-table issue for families who want fair results and trust in the process. When outsiders get easy access to personal data, both our votes and our privacy are put at risk. Keeping elections honest starts with strong safeguards right at the ground level.
