  • Venezuela opposition leader gave her Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump.
  • Trump thanked her, highlighting support for democracy in Venezuela.
  • U.S. keeps strong pressure on Venezuela’s communist regime.

María Corina Machado, a well-known Venezuelan opposition leader, visited the White House and handed her 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to President Donald Trump.

This came after Trump spoke with Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, showing continued U.S. interest in helping Venezuelans gain real freedom.

Machado said

“I presented the President of the United States the medal, the Nobel Peace Prize.”

She added

“As a recognition for his unique commitment with our freedom.”

Trump responded on Truth Social

“It was my Great Honor to meet María Corina Machado, of Venezuela, today. She is a wonderful woman who has been through so much.”

“María presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect.”

“Thank you María!”

Top officials around Trump have repeated promises that America stands by clean and fair elections for Venezuela, but have not set a date.

Machado and her supporters want honest voting, but say Venezuela’s communist government has shut them out through cheating.

Earlier this month, former Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro was ousted and is now in New York to face charges. Now Rodriguez is keeping the government afloat, while America pushes Venezuela’s leaders with oil embargoes to side with U.S. interests.

Even with pressure, Trump has not pushed Rodriguez to turn over power. Washington wants Caracas to remove outside influences, mainly from China and Cuba.

The U.S. has stopped Venezuela from selling oil freely and taken several tankers carrying Venezuelan crude. These ships often operate in secret to dodge sanctions.

America struck a deal with Rodriguez’s team, handling sales of Venezuela’s oil to keep influence and possibly help the country earn better prices.
