President Trump is turning up the heat on Illinois leadership over violence in Chicago. He slammed Governor J.B. Pritzker for what he called a failure to control rampant crime in the city.
“Six people were killed, and 24 people were shot, in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, the weak and pathetic Governor of Illinois, just said that he doesn’t need help in preventing CRIME,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump warned, “He better straighten it out, FAST, or we’re coming! MAGA.” He also hinted at sending federal agents and the National Guard if things don’t improve.
Chicago’s Democrat mayor, Brandon Johnson, pushed back, saying local police would not work with any federal security force Trump might deploy.
Governor Pritzker called the idea of sending troops an “invasion,” accusing Trump of making secret plans to use the military in Chicago.
Stay tuned for the latest on this showdown and how it could hit home across Middle America.
