Wyatt’s Take

  • President Trump blasted Hunter Hess for saying he struggles to represent America at the Olympics.
  • Fans and veterans pushed back hard against Hess’s attitude on wearing the flag.
  • Former Olympic hero Mike Eruzione also took aim at Hess’s remarks.

President Trump called out U.S. skier Hunter Hess after the athlete said it was difficult to represent America during this year’s Winter Olympics.

In a Sunday message, Trump wrote:

“U.S. Olympic Skier, Hunter Hess, a real Loser, says he doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics. If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team, and it’s too bad he’s on it.

Very hard to root for someone like this. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

At his press conference, Hess complained it was “a little hard” to “wear Team USA gear” because of things he didn’t support.

“Just because I’m wearing the flag doesn’t mean I represent everything that’s going on in the U.S.,”

He added.

This didn’t sit well with fans, who demanded skier changes.

Veteran Chad Caton responded:

“What you ski with that flag on your arm and run your mouth on the world stage?? Some of us wore that flag on our arm and buried our friends under it.

STFU AND GO PLAY IN THE SNOW.”

Mike Eruzione, the captain of the 1980 U.S. hockey team, sided with critics, writing online:

“Hunter Hess US snowboarder saying he doesn’t represent his country but his family and friends. Then don’t put on the USA uniform maybe just put for family and friends.

Some athletes just don’t get it.”

Most Americans expect the flag to be worn with pride and respect on the world’s stage.

Our flag is more than just a piece of cloth—it stands for what our families and neighbors have built and defended. Around here, wearing that flag is an honor, and most folks believe showing respect for the country is just common sense.

Take away his USA uniform and, like one of his relatives he represents, Rudolf Hess, keep him in solitary confinement for the rest of his life

Low key virtue signaling; if Hess had any genuine convictions, he would not be on the team!
This is how genuine losers define themselves!

When he signed on to the US Olympic Team he signed up to represent the United States of American to include all of the citizens and veterans who gave their everything to include their lives for their to even be a USA Olympic team. Immediately void his team credentials, mark his team membership in the US & Olympic records as Dishonorably Discharged for Life, and send him home to mommy and daddy Hess.

I wholeheartedly agree. When you compete for a berth in the US Olympic Team, you agree to represent the USA on the world stage. If an athlete like Hess claims he does not agree with the USA’s stance on certain issues, then he has no place in the USA Olympic Team. Hess should follow his conscience & do the right thing by abdicating his position in the US Team. Hess is a demonstrable hypocrite.

Sadly this is what happens with our educational system and its liberal ideology. The USA isn’t perfect but has done more good in the world than any other country ever has.

He signed on and competed with others to represent the United States in the Olympics. If he feels he can’t support all people, all America, he should be removed and someone more deserving put in his place. Olympic sponsors should demand he be removed. Take his Olympic uniform from him and send him home.

The Olympics are not a political venue and jerks like Hess should not be on the team. But I guess it’s win at any cost. He should be asked to go home and see for himself what Americans think about his antics.

With the crap that’s going on in the United States, Hess may have a point. A criminal president is now running the government and anyone that doesn’t agree with him is a loser. At the present time, most of the world despises us because of his actions.

Most of the world is in shock because we now have a president that put America first you ‘useful idiot’! I suppose that you love our last president who was a national embarrassment, a grifter, and an imbecile!! You must have gone to the same college as Hess.

Well, I loss what respect for this skier a number of minutes ago. I would love to see the flag of his family and friends (if he has any left) on his uniform. Bet would be yellow with black on it, yellow the color of his back and black for the color of sins and lack of respect it carries). There are 46 men that served with me that are buried under the Red, White and Blue of the American flag. And willing to die to keep freedom that it represents. This young person, represents what a lot of people think about young people, that they are better than us. If he doesn’t care to represent American, I’m certain some nation would pick him up and permit him to move to be with them.\

Yes it’s true we have freedom of speech and the right to protest PEACEFULLY. The truth is no one is perfect and no country is perfect. But the Olympic is not the place to air your views it should be free of politics. I guess Hess thinks he’s perfect and can do a better job of fixing the mess of years of corruption
