January 1, ‘Rich as Hell’: Trump Praises Affluent Donors, Vows to Give Them Tax Cuts

Former President Donald Trump wooed his donors at Mar-a-Lago last week, urging them to financially support North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson’s bid for governorship next year and promising tax cuts if he’s re-elected in 2024.

In a video of his speech, Trump is seen alongside Robinson, encouraging his “rich as hell” donors to back the Republican candidate.

Trump addressed the crowd, saying, “I just want to thank everybody. Whatever you can do to help Mark and [his wife] Yolanda win this election. And he’s got a tough opponent, not a good opponent, but a tough opponent, a political person.”

He continued, “But you got to help them financially because you are all people that have a lot of money! I know 20 of you, and you’re rich as hell!”

This comment elicited laughter from the audience.

Praising Robinson, Trump stated that Republicans need to “cherish” him because he’s “a star.”

Robinson, who became the North Carolina lieutenant governor in 2021, is running against four other Republicans for the party’s nomination. Democrats have controlled the governor’s mansion in the Tar Heel State since 2017 after Governor Roy Cooper defeated Republican Pat McCrory in the 2016 election.

Trump urged the donors, “I hope you can back him and write checks for him and do everything. And then we’re going to close the border. We’re going to give you tax cuts, we’re going to pay off our debt. We’re going to do all of the things that we have to do.”

Under Trump’s policies as president, corporate tax rates were slashed from 35% to 21%. He also cut taxes for Americans in nearly every income category, but these tax cuts are set to expire in 2025. As the leading Republican candidate, Trump has focused on the economy during his campaign, a top issue for voters nationwide.

At a recent New Hampshire rally, Trump asked the crowd, “Were you better off five years ago or are you better off today? Not one thing has gotten better under crooked Joe Biden.”

Why It Matters (op-ed)

Former President Trump’s recent fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago highlights the importance of supporting Republican candidates like North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson. As Trump promised tax cuts and other conservative policies if re-elected in 2024, it’s evident that fiscal responsibility remains a priority.

Trump’s tax cuts during his presidency benefited Americans in nearly every income category. With Democrats controlling the governor’s mansion in North Carolina since 2017, it’s crucial to back strong Republican candidates like Robinson to regain a conservative foothold.

Robinson’s potential election could pave the way for further tax cuts and economic growth. Trump’s continued influence on the Republican party and his emphasis on the economy as a top issue for voters makes this race one to watch closely.

The funny part is that the Democrats promise to raise taxes on their rich supporters, yet the rich supporters will not support Trump because he is running against the Democrats’ “Make America Socialist” platform. They are as dumb as rocks, in that they do not realize that socialism leads to dictatorships, and only the politically rich get richer, not the capitalist rich. They get the shaft as proven throughout history.

That headline is very deceiving! The “Rich as Hell” was meant for donors to contgribute to Robinson’s campaign. You are fanning the flame here and I do not like it at all!

Tax cuts ALWAYS goes down to the lowest of incomes!! What Trump did the last in office was a God send!! Being retired and on a fixed budget, with Xidens Executive Orders is killing those of us at the lower end of income!!

This article would not pass an honest/ fair/ unbiased fact-checker. He told the rich people at the gathering to contribute to a campaign. Separately he said he wanted to cut taxes. Nowhere did he say he wanted to cut taxes just for the rich. His actual Trump tax cuts show reality. He reduced the tax rate for the top rich from 39.5% to 37%, 2.5/39.5 is a 6% reduction. He decreased the average workers tax bracket from 15 down to 12%, 3/15 is a 20% decrease for average workers tax bracket. So, facts show that Trump’s personal income tax bracket cuts were bigger for working people than for the super rich.
