President Trump announced he’s kicking Lisa Cook off the Federal Reserve Board. He says her alleged actions mean the public can’t trust her with the nation’s money decisions.

Trump posted a letter to Cook, declaring, “I have determined that there is sufficient cause to remove you from your position.”

Cook was already under fire for supposedly committing mortgage fraud before joining the Fed. She refused Trump’s push to quit last week.

William Pulte from the Federal Housing Finance Agency sent word to Attorney General Pam Bondi, claiming Cook “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, potentially committing mortgage fraud.”

“The Federal Reserve has tremendous responsibility for setting interest rates and regulating reserve and member banks,” Trump wrote in his letter. “The American people must be able to have full confidence in the honesty of the members entrusted with setting policy and overseeing the Federal Reserve.”

He continued, “In light of your deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter, they cannot and I do not have such confidence in your integrity.”

Pulte also accused Cook of calling two spots her primary home, with one listed that way just after she got a loan for a Michigan property.

Mortgage fraud claims are now drawing more attention from the Department of Justice, with names like Adam Schiff and Letitia James also getting mentioned over their real estate deals.

Middle America knows that honesty at the Fed matters because its choices hit us right at the kitchen table. Leaders trusted with our money must be above reproach.
