January 1, Trump $1 Coin Considered for 250th Anniversary
Wyatt’s Take
- The Treasury may issue a $1 coin with Trump’s image for America’s 250th birthday.
- The design shows Trump and refers to his courage after the recent attack.
- This move comes from a law passed with bipartisan support back in 2020.
The U.S. Treasury is thinking about minting a $1 coin with President Donald Trump’s face for the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
One draft shows Trump’s profile next to “LIBERTY” and the dates “1776-2026.” The other side has Trump holding up a clenched fist before the flag, along with the words “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.”
This phrase points to his response after surviving an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania in July 2024.
An earlier law from 2020 lets the Treasury issue special coins for this historic event.
