- The Texas Democrat has also drawn attention for past remarks on meat consumption and climate politics.
- He said he was being provocative while arguing against Republican legislation and social conservatives.
These comments came as the candidate prepares for a high-stakes general election in the Lone Star State. He also used the interview to call for the total abolition of the Senate filibuster.
“While it’s maybe provocative politically, I don’t think it’s controversial theologically.”
Talarico said his views are backed by scripture. He also told critics to take their complaints up with the Apostle Paul.
He is modeling parts of his campaign after Georgia Senator Raphael Warnock as he tries to flip Texas blue.
“I know that I was being provocative with that comment.”
The Democrat nominee also took shots at Texas Republicans during the segment. He accused his potential opponents of using their offices to enrich donors while promising a radical playbook to win.

The man, obviously, reads a different translation of the Bible than I do: “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.” Exodus 15:3. There is nothing in the Scripture to support the Lord either being a woman or neuter. The enemies of the Lord always try and twist His words, words they do not believe, to support their ungodly politics.

Our Father whom art in heaven is what my Bible says and you don’t have to go any farther to know he was praying to his FATHER. Satan has so many people blinded and deceived that it is a shame. Someday their eyes will see the son of man coming in the clouds of glory but it will be too late for praying then. I want to take time now to get things right with my Lord so I can spend eternity with him in heaven.
