Wyatt’s Take

  • Syracuse beat UConn in overtime, 27-20, but head coach Fran Brown was far from satisfied.
  • The team trailed most of the game before rallying for the win.
  • After the game, Brown punished the entire squad with wind sprints on the field instead of locker room celebrations.

Syracuse squeezed out a 27-20 overtime win against UConn in a tough Saturday matchup. Head coach Fran Brown, however, was looking for a performance that left no doubts, and he clearly didn’t get it.

UConn led by 11 points halfway through the fourth quarter, and Syracuse didn’t even score a touchdown until their last two drives in regulation, eventually tying and pulling ahead 20-17. The Huskies answered back with a field goal to force overtime, but Syracuse ultimately walked away with the narrow victory after the extra period.

The Orange may have marked one in the win column, but Coach Brown wasn’t about to let the players skate by on a sloppy effort.

Instead of heading straight to the locker room, the team lined up at the goal line, where Brown put them through wind sprints as punishment for their lackluster execution.

“You can tell Fran Brown is not happy after that game. He’s making the entire team run sprints post game right now.”

That’s college football — where every play and every effort matters, win or lose.
