Wyatt’s Take

  • In an 8-1 ruling, the Supreme Court said Colorado cannot punish a Christian counselor for speaking freely.
  • Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, warning the decision could have major consequences for healthcare regulation.
  • The ruling bolsters free-speech protections for professionals facing pressure to conform to state-approved ideology.

Justice Jackson warned about the long-term implications of this victory for free speech.

“Ultimately, because the majority plays with fire in this case, I fear that the people of this country will get burned,” Jackson wrote in her solo dissent.

Justice Elena Kagan fired back at the lone dissenter for trying to rewrite established law to fit a political narrative.

“JUSTICE JACKSON’s dissenting opinion claims that this is a small, or even nonexistent, category,” Kagan wrote regarding viewpoint-neutral laws.

The ruling confirms that the government cannot ban talk therapy just because the state disagrees with a counselor’s traditional values.

This decision protects professionals from being forced to affirm gender confusion against their conscience and common sense.

What “long-term implications” is she worried about? It’s FREE SPEECH! When a SUPREME COURT JUSTICE WANTS TO DENY FREE SPEECH – SHE NEEDS TO BE OFF THE COURT!!

I agree with Joann 100%. Justice Brown Jackson is a nut. Even her liberal court mates struggled to understand her dissenting opinion.
