January 1, Something Stirring in MLB as Disciplinary Actions Intensify

Wyatt’s Take
- Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Johan Rojas nailed for Boldenone steroid use.
- 80-game unpaid suspension upheld after failed appeal.
- Misses MLB second half, playoffs, plus Dominican Republic WBC team.
Major League Baseball suspended Rojas without pay. The 25-year-old tested positive earlier this month.
Dominican Republic lost 2-1 to Team USA in WBC semifinals. Rojas debuted with Phillies in 2023 and played 120 games last year despite demotion.
This season he hit .224 with one homer and 18 RBI in 71 games. Spring training showed .167 average in 24 at-bats before ban.
He’s the second big leaguer hit hard. Atlanta’s Jurickson Profar faces 162 games off for repeat PED violation after last year’s 80-game hCG suspension.
Cheaters like this rob real ballplayers of chances us fans root for.
