Wyatt’s Take

  • The DOJ is not investigating its own officials over the Schiff mortgage case.
  • Senator Schiff is being scrutinized for claiming two homes as his primary residence.
  • Key regulators and prosecutors deny any internal wrongdoing; the focus remains on Schiff.

Federal officials are not investigating top pardon attorney Ed Martin or housing regulator Bill Pulte over the inquiry into Senator Adam Schiff’s mortgage dealings. Recent reports about a DOJ grand jury targeting Martin and Pulte are denied by direct sources familiar with the matter.

The Justice Department’s efforts are directed at uncovering whether Schiff wrongly claimed two houses as his main home, not at investigating their own staff.

Christine Bish, an activist who filed an ethics complaint, was subpoenaed for documents tied to Schiff’s mortgage activity.

“Ed Martin and Bill Pulte are not being investigated by a grand jury.”

Chad Mizelle, former chief of staff to Attorney General Pam Bondi, called claims of investigating DOJ officials “completely wrong.”

“DOJ isn’t investigating their own. They are getting ready to drop a bomb on Adam Schiff.”

This summer, Bill Pulte submitted a criminal referral alleging that Schiff may have committed bank fraud and wire fraud by claiming two homes as primary residences—one in California, one in Maryland.

Pulte said Schiff “falsified bank documents and property records” to get better loan terms.

He also stated that mortgage fraud puts the housing market at risk and weakens confidence in federally regulated entities.

Schiff has denied all wrongdoing and labeled the investigation as political payback. He has responded by setting up a legal defense fund.

Official records reveal Schiff declared both homes as “principal residence” multiple times, which is against federal lender rules. He didn’t update the Maryland home’s status until 2020.

Pulte’s referral suggests Schiff could secure lower rates and tax breaks by falsifying records, saving thousands of dollars.

Schiff also reportedly took a California homeowner’s tax break by claiming his Burbank property as his main home.
