Wyatt’s Take

  • Rosie O’Donnell blamed conservatives for a tragic school shooting.
  • Her emotional comments turned out to be factually wrong.
  • She apologized, but many aren’t buying it.

Comedian Rosie O’Donnell went public with an accusation that a Minnesota school shooter was a MAGA Republican and white supremacist. She made these claims before the facts about the shooting were confirmed.

“¿Qué sabes? Era un hombre blanco, republicano, partidario de MAGA. ¿Qué sabes? ¿Supremacistas blancos?”

O’Donnell later apologized after it came out the shooter’s writings showed hatred against Catholics and included the violent message “Maten a Trump.” She admitted she made assumptions and said she was wrong to spread misinformation about the killer’s motives.

“Sabía que muchos de ustedes estaban muy molestos por el video que hice antes de irme unos días,” O’Donnell said, adding she didn’t check her facts before making her claims. “En fin, la verdad es que metí la pata, y cuando uno mete la pata, lo confiesa. Lo siento.”

The apology sparked heated reactions. Some said she wasn’t truly sorry, while others agreed accusations from both sides help tear the country apart. Many pointed out people must check facts before repeating political claims.

O’Donnell responded to criticism by saying, “Me equivoqué y me disculpo. ¿Qué más quieres?” Two children died and nineteen were hurt in the attack before the shooter took his own life. The FBI named Robert Westman, 23, as the shooter.

If you’re tired of celebrities stirring the pot without knowing the facts, let your friends know what really happened—forward this to someone who values truth.
