January 1, Trump’s Columbus Move Sparks Patriotic Fight at White House

Wyatt’s Take
- President Donald Trump restored a Christopher Columbus statue to the White House grounds.
- The monument is a replica of the statue that was removed from Baltimore during the 2020 riots.
- Supporters say the move defends American heritage and honors Italian American pride.
Trump wrote to Italian American leaders that he was honored to place the statue on the property.
He said Columbus carried thousands of years of wisdom across the Atlantic to these shores.
“Columbus’ voyage in 1492 carried thousands of years of wisdom, philosophy, reason, and culture across the Atlantic into the Americas—paving the way for the ultimate triumph of Western civilization.”
The move pushes back against activists who try to paint every explorer as a villain.
The White House stated they are proud to honor a giant of history who helped start the American story.
History shows Columbus even urged mercy toward tribes after his own men were killed.
He also adopted a native son, showing a side of the story the media usually ignores.
“Columbus statues have long stood as symbols of pride and cultural identity for more than 18 million Americans of Italian descent.”
This restoration is a victory for everyone who believes we should celebrate our roots instead of tearing them down.
It sends a clear message that the days of apologizing for our greatness are over.
Wyatt Matters
Middle America knows heritage matters, and honoring history should never be treated like a crime.

I’m not sure why this piece is calling the statue a replica. It is the statue that was mob removed, destroyed, and thrown into the harbor at Baltimore. The pieces were salvaged from the bottom of the harbor and skillfully repaired and reassembled. Calling it a replica is much like saying your repaired car is a replica of the one that you took to the body shop when it was wrecked.
