January 1, Report: The Best (And Worst) Cities in America

A new WalletHub report found the best- and worst-run cities in the U.S. by analyzing the operating efficiency using 38 “quality of services” metrics measured against the city’s budget.

The Top Five Best-Run Cities in America:
1. Nampa, ID
2. Boise, ID
3. Fort Wayne, IN
4. Nashua, NH
5. Lexington-Fayette, KY

The Top Five Worst-Run Cities in America:
1. Washington, DC
2. San Francisco, CA
3. New York, NY
4. Chattanooga, TN
5. Cleveland, OH

Experts say citizens can improve the quality of their cities by participating.

“Speak up to share your views, but that right comes with the obligation to be prepared and know something about the topic, which is not likely to be gained by listening to talk radio and its television equivalent,” said Terry L. Clower, a Public Policy professor at George Mason University. 

“Local leaders will likely surprise you with the degree to which they welcome reasoned, thoughtful, and respectful input,” Clower added.
