January 1, Police Link Ivy League Shooting to MIT Murder
Wyatt’s Take
- Police are looking into a link between recent violent events at two top schools.
- Authorities have identified a person tied to both a campus shooting and a professor’s murder.
- Evidence with DNA and fingerprints may connect the two incidents.
Law enforcement is checking if the Brown University mass shooting and the killing of an MIT professor days later are connected. Investigators say they have identified someone linked to both the shooting and the professor’s murder.
“Police have identified a person they believe is connected to the mass shooting at Brown University last weekend and the killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor in Brookline earlier this week.”
The shooting at Brown left two people dead and nine hurt. Police say they found shell casings with DNA and fingerprints at the scene.
The MIT professor, Nuno Loureiro, was shot several times at home and died at the hospital. The suspect tied to both events is now a key focus for law enforcement.
Officials are working to find out what connects the two cases and if more suspects are involved.
