January 1, Pennsylvania Voters Brace for Delayed Election Results Amid Mail-In Ballot Controversy

Published

on

In a move that’s already stoking concerns among voters, Pennsylvania election officials are notifying the public not to expect results from the high-stakes presidential race on Election Night. This announcement is raising eyebrows and suspicions, especially in a pivotal battleground state.

The Keystone State is under intense scrutiny this election cycle, with both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump prioritizing visits. Harris made a stop on August 18 ahead of the Democratic National Convention, while Trump held rallies on August 17 and August 19, highlighting his enduring popularity despite the chaos and alleged violence surrounding him.

To prevent a repeat of controversies from four years ago, Republican Secretary of State Al Schmidt – an appointee of Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro – has been candid about current state laws. Pennsylvania law bars county boards from processing mail-in ballots until 7 a.m. on Election Day. This delay is stirring concerns over potential election irregularities.

“It’s absurd that states like Florida and Texas manage to count their votes promptly, but Pennsylvania drags its feet,” Scott Pressler, a well-known conservative activist, remarked. Pennsylvania and states like Wisconsin, where pre-canvassing is prohibited, are ripe for election night chaos and controversy.

The 2020 debacle, triggered by Act 77 – signed by Democratic Governor Tom Wolf – opened the floodgates for widespread mail-in voting without requiring excuses. Originally intended to aid those with legitimate reasons, the act’s loose provisions, coupled with the COVID-19 surge, have fundamentally altered Pennsylvania’s voting landscape.

In the 2022 gubernatorial race, over 1.2 million Pennsylvanians opted to vote by mail, a trend that seems far from waning. Mail-in ballot applications are accessible much earlier now, giving more time to voters – but also more time for potential loopholes.

Schmidt has been advocating for legislative changes to allow precanvassing before Election Day. Despite his efforts, the Republican-controlled state Senate remains at odds with the Democratic state House over the specifics.

Republicans have been vocal about the need for election integrity. Pressler has been pushing Shapiro to enact executive orders ensuring non-citizens are not on voter rolls. Instances in Virginia and Ohio where thousands of non-citizens were found on voter rolls underline the urgency of these measures.

The turnover in election administrators since the chaotic 2020 cycle is alarming. Over 80 senior election positions have seen new faces since then, raising concerns about readiness and consistency. The state insists on providing sufficient mail-in and in-person ballots, yet past mishaps, such as Luzerne County running out of ballots in 2022, cast doubt.

Schmidt, the lone Republican among Philadelphia’s commissioners during the contentious 2020 election, has tried to dispel fears of non-citizen voting. But with the administration’s back-and-forth over upgrading the antiquated SURE system, reassurances ring hollow for many skeptics. The contract cancellation for a new voter roll system last December only adds to the suspicions.

The Shapiro administration’s various initiatives, from training new election directors to establishing a threat task force, are seen as attempts to bolster confidence. Yet, the specter of another chaotic Election Night in such a critical state remains a legitimate concern for many voters keen on ensuring a free, fair, and timely election.

My state prohibits actually counting absentee ballots before polls CLOSE on election day. Somehow they are all counted before midnight on election day.

For hundreds of years every vote was counted on Election Day not election days or weeks. If States can’t count on Election Day Fire their asses.
They say we can put a man on the moon but can’t count ballots. Hire thousands of republicans to count and it will be done. These government officials need to be replaced
There lazy go back to the old mechanical count machines there was no cheating back then.
    This is such B/S.

PA patriotic citizens must get their vote in – make the election to big to rig. Any no citizen voting should be arrested and thrown out of our country. The constitution gives the right to vote only to citizens

With the distrust on both sides in this election business it’s doubtful that things will ever get straighten out. It does make you wonder how we ever got by when there was election day only voting, and mail in for those unable to go to the polls to vote in person. All these other ways to vote only makes it easier for those unauthorized people to vote with little to no chance of being caught. It’s a mess and the country is so divided that there is little hope for anything getting done to fix the problem.

Corruption and Lies and Violence is a way of life for Democrats so they will try to steal elections anyway they can.

There is plenty of time to hold a special session of the legislature to allow starting counting of mail in ballots starting one or two days before election day, rather than election day. This should allow all votes to be tabulated and reported on election evening.

Seems a lot like the set up for the statistically impossible change of vote count leader that occurred in 3 swing states in 2020 in the wee hours of the morning after workers and poll watchers had been sent home. Wasn’t one of those states PA?

Florida requires that all mail in ballots must be counted first and there are not any accepted past election night . Same in aTexas and most states. Only states interested in cheating are the Blue left wing states. Bullshit to stop counting votes at 10 PM on election night when there’s a clear winner and then all of a sudden all these new ballots show up and they keep counting until Democrat wins. The Suprene court should step in if that happens again!!

Remember the Nixon / Kennedy election in 1960 . Nixon was the winner at midnight on election night and Obama state Illinois keep counting votes all night and at 6am next morning Kennedy won. Sounds a little like Pennsylvania / Mich/ Wisconsin /Arizona in 2020. Wasn’t Obama involved in that election . Same thing happened in Nevada in 2022 Arizona… Republicans need to learn can’t vote in Election Day cause that’s when the voting machines stop working for some odd reason or the printers go down and a lot of voters are disenfranchised

Republicans and independents vote early to avoid a lot of the voting problems on Election Day . Make sure your vote counts . All mail in ballots should be counted on Election Day first. If not recieved on it before Election Day they should not count . Unles military
