House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) defended her trip to Taiwan after backlash from China, saying Chinese President Xi Jinping is “acting like a scared bully.”
The visit fanned the flames of tensions with China, which claims Taiwan as part of its territory. China considers trips by foreign government officials to Taiwan to be an acknowledgment of the island’s sovereignty and warned Pelosi’s visit would have an “egregious political impact.” Beijing completed live-fire military exercises in the Taiwan Strait after Pelosi’s departure.
Pelosi told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that the Chinese president is “in a fragile place.”
“He has problems with his economy. He is acting like a scared bully,” she said.
When asked by NBC News host Savannah Guthrie if the trip was “worth it,” Pelosi replied: “Absolutely, without any question.”
“I have overwhelming bipartisan support for our visit to Taiwan, as Speaker of the House and with the distinguished delegation that I went there with. We were very well received. Thousands of people in the streets,” Pelosi added.
The House Speaker said, “what the Chinese are doing is what they usually do.”
Last week, 26 Senate Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), signed a statement supporting Pelosi’s trip.
“We support Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan,” the lawmakers said. “For decades, members of the United States Congress, including previous Speakers of the House, have traveled to Taiwan. This travel is consistent with the United States’ One China policy, to which we are committed. We are also committed now, more than ever, to all elements of the Taiwan Relations Act.”
Pelosi noted that a group of senators traveled to Taiwan earlier this year.
“Did anybody make a fuss?” she asked.
“It was bipartisan, it was high-powered, including the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee — nobody said a word,” Pelosi said. “If they can ignore a trip of five senators in a bipartisan way, why would they decide on my trip that it would be different? … There’s something wrong with this picture.”
Pelosi’s trip made her the highest-ranking American official to visit Taiwan in 25 years.
The House Speaker said Xi “has his own insecurities” and will not control the schedule of members of Congress.

All the hype and fanfare of Pelosi’s Taiwan trip was nothing more than a publicity stunt to cover her real intent. It was an extortion scheme to increase her family’s wealth. That’s why she brought along her husband and son on government aircraft at taxpayer expense. Very similar to how the Biden, Clinton and obama crime families used their official positions to enrich themselves. By stirring up fears of ‘war’ and military retaliation, Pelosi was able to use her position of power to negotiate lucrative deals for her family with both the Taiwanese and CCP governments. The office of Speaker of the House is a very powerful position in American politics. That’s where all Congressional legislation starts, or is blocked. The Speaker has total control over every bill introduced in Congress. Pelosi was able to ‘promise’ favorable legislation to help both Taiwan and China in trade deals with the United States in exchange for a ‘cut’ of the action (payment to her family). Since the DOJ is now controlled by Democrats, Pelosi, like Biden, has no fear of any criminal probes into her illegal dealings. The sellout of America is going full steam ahead by these corrupt politicians.
