Pelosi Bashes McCarthy’s Unprecedented 8.5 Hour Speech [Video]
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) delayed the passage of the Biden administration’s massive social spending package through a record-breaking filibuster that lasted over 8 1/2 hours. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wasn’t impressed by McCarthy’s unprecedented speech, saying she “didn’t even pay attention.”
“I didn’t even pay attention to [Kevin McCarthy’s] speech. I don’t even listen to most of the speeches on the other side because they’re not fraught with meaning or fact, so I don’t have my computer get bothered with that,” Pelosi said at a news conference on Friday.
The press also asked Pelosi how to alleviate the increasing hostility between the two parties.
“They could improve their behavior,” she said. “They don’t have to threaten to kill members of Congress or threaten the life of the president of the United States,” Pelosi added, referencing the violent video posted by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ).
