January 1, Paul Pelosi Hospitalized After Violent Assault By Intruder — Here’s What We Know So Far

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY…
1929: “Black Tuesday” Wall Street Stock Market crashes triggering the “Great Depression.”

An intruder broke into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco home early Friday morning and brutally beat her husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer while shouting: “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?”

According to San Francisco Police Chief William Scott, police were called to the home for a “a priority well-being check” at approximately 2:27 a.m. on Friday. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the suspect, 42-year-old David Depape, and Paul Pelosi both grabbing onto a hammer.

“The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it,” Scott said.

At that point, officers “immediately tackled the suspect, disarmed him” and took him into custody.

Both Paul Pelosi, 82, and Depape were transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where Pelosi reportedly underwent brain surgery.

“Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery,” said Drew Hammill, Speaker Pelosi’s spokesperson.

The House Speaker was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident, where she was scheduled for an appearance at a Human Rights Campaign fundraising event Saturday night. Pelosi has canceled her appearance.

Chief Scott said Depape had been booked on a litany of charges, including attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and “several other additional felonies.”

Police said that a motive behind the attack “is still being determined” and the situation is “an active investigation.”

“We can have our political differences, but violence is always wrong & unacceptable.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Two of Depape’s relatives told CNN that he moved to California about 20 years ago from British Columbia, Canada. They said he was estranged from his family. Other individuals who had known Depape told the outlet that he had a drug problem and lived in a storage unit in the Berkeley area.

The U.S. Capitol Police is conducting a joint investigation into the break-in with the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the San Francisco Police.

“Special agents with the USCP’s California Field Office quickly arrived on scene, while a team of investigators from the Department’s Threat Assessment Section was simultaneously dispatched from the East Coast to assist the FBI and the San Francisco Police with a joint investigation,” the USCP said in a statement.

Lawmakers react to the brutal assault

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-K.Y.) said he was “horrified and disgusted” by the assault and is “grateful to hear that Paul is on track to make a full recovery and that law enforcement including our stellar Capitol Police are on the case.”

“We pray for a speedy recovery for Mr Pelosi, and want the violent criminal held accountable and put behind bars,” said Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE).

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called the attack on Paul Pelosi “horrific,” and said that he and his wife Heidi are praying for Pelosi and their family.

“We can have our political differences, but violence is always wrong & unacceptable,” Cruz said.

Nancy Pelosi was quoted as saying ” This is just horrible, just hortrible. We never authorized or allocated funds for this. We simply will deny all knowledge and somehow must put this at Trump’s feet. YES, at Trump’s doing, remember people, it’s always Trump. Trump planned it, Trump probably had a meeting way back, on Jan 6th maybe, you know he’s out to get us, but were gonna get him first, no matter how many lies we tell, eventually one of them will look right and these idiots will believe, WHY WON”T THEY BELIEVE US ANYMORE? Who did you say built what with his hammer?

What a disgusting headline. It is implying that she should have been with her husband that night instead of at her job site. The article devotes one sentence to her. The rest is devoted to the incident. A better headline might be: Paul Pelosi recovering nicely after brutal attack. My political bent is Conservative, but this headline is biased and disgusting.

Nancy Pelosi is directly responsible for this attack. He tight friendship and support of George Soros enables criminals nation wide. Soros has been supporting and funding liberal DA’s and prosecutors who deliberately refuse to charge criminals and have them released. There’s a good chance that this attacker would have been deported or jailed if not for Nancy Pelosi.

Whenever something happens to a Dem/Communist, it is the worst possible thing happening. Nuclear war!!! We have had Dem/Communists shooting and beating Republicans and Conservative judges being threatened, and nothing happens to them. We have a President and Vice President promoting violence against Republicans and bailing the criminals out of jail, calling Trump followers terrorist. We can not let them keep letting criminals out of prisons and expect not to have crimes. We have a serious problem with mental illness’ which a lot of it was caused by the Covid lock down and poverty in our country.caused by the Dem/Communists leadership spending our money like drunken sailors. We must find solutions to our country’s problems and vote these elite radicals out of office. We can not keep doing the same things over and over and expect different results. It is time to elect strong Republicans that will stop the deep state and Dem/Communists to save our country and citizens. This horrific violence should never happen to anyone Dem or Republican!!!

Something doesn’t smell right with this story, who called in for a wellness check? Why was there no security for this Speakers house, I saw the pictures of the glass doors suppose to be broken in by the “intruder”, strange the broken glass was on the out side not inside where it should be, it was also reported that “David” was dressed in only his shorts, and Paul told the officers David was a friend of his. What is true? We need some good investigated reporting and not the party’s spin.

It wasn’t what the police said in their report, it is what they didn’t say that makes this very suspicious.
Just wait, it won’t be long before it appears to be Trumps fault.
Remember they are coming up to midterms.

Was there an outpouring of sympathy for Steve Scalise. I don’t recall. One maybe two showed empathy no more.
Nancy publicly said she wanted to punch Donald Trump. Funny how the wheel turns when least expected. I bet she didn’t expect an assault of this kind to visit her.
